MAYDAY SUBVERSIVE SHENANIGANS:
Twentysixfeet DROPLIFT new album in major record stores
London-based post everything experimentalists twentysixfeet reached breaking point with the major retailers yesterday when they undertook a ‘DROPLIFTING’ exercise in the major reta il stores in London’s West End. Sick of being bent over a barrell and buggered by the major retailers, twentysixfeet took matters in to their own hands by racking copies of their new album ‘Two Hours Of Passionless Tango’ themselves. Here’s how it happened:
So, we we're bored. Bored with wondering whether as an unsigned band, 'Two Hours Of Passionless Tango' our release that we have painstakingly created, recorded and handmade the sleeves (at least 100 man hours on fooking cover!) will be in the major stores like HMV, Virgin etc..for people to peruse, and possibly buy. It would be a shocker if these stores didn't order any. And besides, its not going to be out until June 5th, says our manager. Dan had an idea.

Lets put some in the shops ourselves. Like, walk right in there and stick em in the 'T' section. Bonzer.

"Great idea!" exclaimed Matt. We got on t'bus and headed to the West End..

So in we went...HMV Oxford Circus first. The guy in black to the right of Dans head was a security guard who was quick on the uptake..we wondered what he would say or do. Nothing, was the answer. Shame.

Onto Virgin we go...

Matt looking like a regular browser, casually slipping it in, so to speak!

'Two Hours Of Passionless Tango' available on the shelves..hoooray!

Spot the tsf CD!

Ahh...strange bedfellows Turner and Twain make!
We went on to repeat the exercise in most of the major chain stores in W1. We even dropped off at Selectadisc as it was on our way.
Our manager wasn't best pleased we might have done a D'oh-erty and got arrested but we thought, fuck it. We haven't stolen anything have we?
Now, onto the next bit. The 'Two Hours Of Passionless Tango' CD is in most music shops in the W1 area, but if you ask them, they will tell you they DONT stock it. "Errr..its not on our system. We don't have it." But it's there. Go in, and try to buy it - we think this should ensure some chaos at the tills. What will they do - give it to you? Try and sell it to you even though they shouldn't, as it's not released yet and they have no clue about it anyway? Our moneys on you'll get it for free. But anyways, will be a laugh watching the confused shop assistant probably go and get the manager, who in turn will be equally confused. Go and do it. Let us know what happens. There are five (5) in the Oxford Circus HMV, in the rock and pop section, under T. We might even go for Woolworths next :)
