Hmm, there's something about their look, and there's something about their sound, that sets them apart from their peers.

And March 2008 is set to be a busy month for Model Horror, what with the release of their single 'We Are Here', plus a set at Club Artrocker.

Fresh from being bigged up by our old friend Zane Lowe on Radio 1, we got the band's Rob Hardy to do the questions...

Q1 How did you start out making music?
It started with just the two us back at school. We used our limited peer pressure to great affect, forcing the others to join us at a few practices and it all kicked off from there.

Q2 What inspired your latest single?
The track is called 'We Are Here' (released 17 Mar on This Is Fake DIY Records) and is widely believed to be inspired by our singers soft spot for orienteering. This isn’t true I’m afraid; the song is about us progressing as a band. The title fits perfectly for a debut single we feel!

Q3 What process do you go through in creating a track?
As far as the song writing is concerned; someone usually has a core idea and then after a prolonged period of heated conversation, thrashing of instruments and a general creative mêlée we come up with a finished product. It’s the mixing that takes the time. There is a lot going on in a track like 'We Are Here'.

Q4 Which artists influence your work?
We take inspiration from across the board on most of our tracks. We've been compared with the likes of forward Russia and Bloc Party for example, but we also take pride in a darker undercurrent of pop that runs through many of our songs. Depeche Mode has been mentioned on more than one occasion.

Q5 What would you say to someone experiencing your music for the first time?
I would ask that they sit back and enjoy it, but make sure there is nothing breakable at arms length because the beat will get you in the end.

Q6 What are your ambitions for your latest single, and for the future?
We obviously hope the single does well in terms of allowing more people to hear what we are doing. We have been asked to play in Berlin and Rome over the next couple of months, so the buzz is spreading. Then it would be nice to play some festivals over the summer. Last year we played at a rave on the beach in Cornwall, on the same weekend as Glastonbury (and it was sunny), so if you're listening Mr Eavis, we can bring the sun if you have the time!
