RestLessList, a recent CMU Social alum, was formed in 2005 by Ben Elliot and Electric Soft Parade's Matt Thwaites, subsequently expanding their line-up to include fellow Brighton musicians Tom White (Electric Soft Parade/Brakes) and The Zettasaurs' Matthew Davies and James Hamilton.

From these humble beginnings as a lo-fi two piece, they have earned radio play and high acclaim with their infectious instrumentals. Their debut album, 'Rise And Fall Of The Curtain Club', was released earlier this month, and Mr Thwaites has taken time out of his and the band's busy schedule to answer our same six questions.

Q1 How did you start out making music?
We started out making electronic soundscapes in our bedrooms with a 4 track and a £5 microphone. Then we got a gig and had to form a band.

Q2 What inspired your latest single?
'Butlin Breaks' was inspired by the legendary summer camp, which Ben went to around the time we wrote the song. It also fits in with the themes on our album.

Q3 What process do you go through in creating a track?
Generally, me and Ben get together, create a beat inspired by something we have seen or heard and the music follows suit. We make sketches of songs, then we take it to the band and flesh it out and add colour.

Q4 Which artists influence your work?
Tom Waits, Dadaism, Calypso music.

Q5 What would you say to someone experiencing your music for the first time?
Hopefully, we would be too busy playing to say anything, but if not it would be something polite.

Q6 What are your ambitions for your latest album, and for the future?
Just the old classic of people getting into your music. It's not the time to want to be rich from music, which suits us fine. A lot more touring would be good, and definitely abroad.
