Q1 How did you start out making music?
I got obsessed by Stewart Copeland and wanted to be him. It was the first thing I can remember approaching with absolute commitment and discipline, practising the drums properly for hours every day. But as I began to realise only Stewart Copeland could be Stewart Copeland, I was also being drawn, like a sleepwalker in his Spiderman pyjamas, to songwriting as the impossible invisible art form.
Q2 What inspired your latest album?
Wanting to give people the best time of their young lives.
Q3 What process do you go through in creating a track?
Generally one idea leads into another idea leads into another leads into another then bingo - the feeling you've been chasing pops out as an actual theme and then I work from there until it's finished. And then I write the words.
Q4 Which artists influence your work?
The The, Simon & Garfunkel, Van Halen, The Police, Billy Joel's fast songs, Far Eastern pop music.
Q5 What would you say to someone experiencing your music for the first time?
If you don't like this, I'm sorry.
Q6 What are your ambitions for your latest album, and for the future?
That people get to hear it, and for the future - that even more people get to hear it.
