Surrey rockers You Me At Six formed in 2005 and after playing mostly local gigs, their support slots for the likes of Paramore and Elliot Minor got media types all in a spin. And since signing to indie label Slam Dunk Records their prospects have gone stellar.

The release of debut single 'Save It For The Bedroom' in late 2007 coincided with their first headline tour and garnered them a reputation for incredible live shows and the band bagged themselves a dedicated following.

The band's debut album 'Take Off Your Colours' is out now and has already received critical acclaim. They are also playing a number of dates up until the new year, including a sold out show at the Astoria on 27 Oct.

Here lead singer Josh Franceschi's tells us a bit about his musical life so far.

Q1 How did you start out making music?
As a band we started out about two years ago by simply jamming on ideas and getting to know our instruments a little better and enhancing our capabilities on them.

Q2 What inspired your latest album?
Music that is around us. We wanted to write an honest record which is relevant to our time and things that we're experiencing as teenagers.

Q3 What process do you go through in creating a track?
Someone comes up with an initial idea at home, then we take it to practice and play around with it.

Q4 Which artists influence your work?
Jimmy Eat World, New Found Glory, Blink 182.

Q5 What would you say to someone experiencing your music for the first time?
See, I told you it wasn't that bad!

Q6 What are your ambitions for your latest album, and for the future?
To tour the record and get our music out to as many people as possible. Then we want to hit the studio, record another one and do it all over again!
